Our Story
A Home Since 1997
Since its inception in September 1997, Jews of all traditions have enjoyed the Sephardic Kehila Centre’s extraordinary facilities and programming. Crowned with its distinctive dome visible from afar, the Kehila Centre is prominently situated in the heart of Jewish Toronto. Over the years, Torah personalities, political figures and Jews from around the world have visited and taken part in its many programs, special events and smachot. Families, individuals, organizations and businesses have utilized the Kehila Centre’s two banquet halls for weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, britot, graduations, lectures, concerts and celebrations.
Our Rabbi
Rabbi David Kadoch
Spiritual Leader since 2019
Born and raised in Toronto, Rabbi David Kadoch is a graduate of Or HaEmet Sephardic School and Yeshivat Ner Yisrael, and spent two years deepening his Torah and halacha studies at Yeshivat Mikdash Melech in Jerusalem. He received his semicha from Yeshivat Pirchei Shoshanim and holds a Masters in Education and an Honours in Religious Studies from York University.
A passionate educator, he serves as Menahel and Rav Bet HaSefer at Netivot HaTorah Day School. One of his greatest passions is singing the traditional Sephardic melodies that make Moroccan Judaism so precious — a devotion that led him to serve as Hazan of Abir Yaakob Congregation since 2008. On January 1st, 2019, he became Rabbi of the Sephardic Kehila Centre, succeeding Hacham Amram Assayag, Rabbi Emeritus. He is also the host of the 'Finding Holiness' podcast.
